Talk to us early

Money worries?

If you're finding it hard to keep up with payments — or think you might soon — please tell us as early as you can. We're here to help, not to judge.

Our commitment to you

Life doesn't always go to plan. Illness, a change in work, a relationship breakdown or rising living costs can all put pressure on your finances — and if that happens, the worst thing to do is worry in silence. The earlier you talk to us, the more options we're likely to have to help you.

When you get in touch, we will:

  • Listen first. A real person will take the time to understand your situation — there's no script and no judgment.
  • Treat you fairly and with respect. We're committed to supporting customers in financial difficulty, in line with our obligations as a lender regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
  • Look for a way forward together. Depending on your circumstances, that might mean agreeing a temporary payment arrangement or restructuring your loan. We'll always explain your options clearly, including how each one would affect your loan and your credit file.
  • Give you time and space. If you're getting debt advice, we can pause and give you breathing room while you do.
  • Signpost free, independent help. We'll point you to organisations that offer free debt advice, like the ones listed below.

Simply talking to us about money worries won't affect your credit score, and it doesn't commit you to anything. If you do miss payments, they may be reported to credit reference agencies and can affect your credit file — which is exactly why an early conversation is so valuable.

Free, independent money and debt advice

You don't have to work things out alone, and you never need to pay for debt advice. These organisations offer free, confidential and impartial help:

The important bit, honestly

Your loan is secured on your boat, so if payments are missed and we can't find a way forward together, your boat could ultimately be repossessed — but that is always a last resort, and it's far less likely the earlier you talk to us. Missed payments can also incur charges and affect your credit file. One phone call is all it takes to start sorting things out: 0333 090 2368.
